'C' is one of the most commercially-viable languages for the student computer-programmer to start learning. The 'language' is quite disciplined, and many others have emerged from it. When you've mastered how to program in 'C', you will find the transition to others is much more spontaneous. C is the main 'language' for systems. It is certainly one of Microsoft's most supported languages in their development environment 'Visual-Studio', and within it's certification programs. The original variation of C was made in the '60's, even though it wasn't referred to that way. It then made the change to something called 'object oriented' C++ (which means its program is not only one, 'linear' series of activities - it can be several objects communicating with one another) during the 1980's. Microsoft released their .Net enabled edition of C when we moved into the 21st century. It came to be known as 'C#', & is the variation we use now. It's this that the word '.net' identifies, and it helps to save programmers a lot of time as so many of the elementary tasks have been completed for them.

Not too long ago Microsoft updated their main accreditation tracks. They up-graded from their previous 'MCAD'/'MCSD' (Microsoft Certified Application/Solutions Developer) exams to the MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) and the 'MCPD' (Microsoft Certified Professional Developer) examinations. Commonly, there are two MCTS pre requisite exams prior to moving on to the entire 'MCPD' exam. Do not be confused because Microsoft call their initial unit a foundation unit. If you're new at all to programming, look at taking a programming-introduction module first. It's also typically a good idea to do a 'support' certification before both of these, so a good knowledge of software environments and software-support can be obtained. A 'support' certification can help you to obtain your 1st IT job. An entire career-track will take around 600-700 hrs of study time, which means if you are studying part time you will be able to finish within about twelve to eighteen months.
